Municipal Planning Commission


The Municipal Planning Commission (MPC) is a Council-appointed Board with its members consisting of two Councillors and five members of the public. The Town of Didsbury's Development Officer also attends the meetings.

This commission meets twice monthly to consider development applications in regards to the Land Use Bylaw.

Meetings are currently scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month; however, meetings will only take place as necessary. Applications presented at the meetings are then either approved (with or without conditions) or they are refused by MPC. 

Authority to make decisions is granted by the Municipal Planning Commission Bylaw and the Land Use Bylaw.

October 8, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. in Council Chambers

Council Chambers are located at 1606 14 St. Didsbury

Please note that MPC meetings are Public Meetings and not  Public Hearings. The public is welcome to attend a meeting to observe; however, only MPC Members are able to ask any questions during a Public Meeting. 

The Public is invited to submit comments and concerns during the circulation period.  Any letters of concern received are then included in the Agenda package for MPC’s review and consideration.

What is MPC? 

MPC consists of seven members, five members at large and two Council representatives. The Commission acts the subdivision authority and a development authority for the Town of Didsbury, meaning that they review and approve/deny applications for developments and subdivisions in accordance with the Municipal Government Act and Regulations, and bylaws and policies of the municipality

Who should serve on MPC? 

Anyone who lives in the Town of Didsbury is eligible to serve on the Commission. No prior knowledge is required but interest or experience in development and subdivision would be considered an asset.

How do I serve on the MPC? 

You submit an application form, attached. Following a review, Council is presented with information to make an informed appointment to the Commission. 

What is the time commitment like? 

MPC meets regularly ever second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Meetings usually run from 15 minutes to one hour.
