DIDSBURY & DISTRICT HEALTH SERVICES

(Didsbury Hospital and Emergency Care)

Didsbury Hospital is home to 16 acute care beds, caring for patients with a variety of needs. This includes anything from recovering from pneumonia or influenza to healing after surgery, or rehabilitation following a fall, stroke or another traumatic injury.  The hospital is also able to provide compassionate end of life care when needed.

Over the past year, Didsbury hospital admitted 400 patients and, on average, is 90% full. Of these patients, approximately 30% have been admitted to the hospital while they wait to move into their new home in supportive living or long term care.

In October, 2018, a $500,000 renovation to the lobby area was completed, creating a fresh and welcoming environment for community members. There are many ongoing renovation projects, such as replacing generators, boiler repairs, upgrading security, LED lighting, cafeteria improvements and creating wifi access.

Didsbury Hospital is also supported by the Rosebud Health Foundation, Ladies Auxiliary, and the Elks. The hospital is incredibly grateful for the purchases that enhance care, such as the new helipad, an iPad to distract children during painful procedures, furniture in the lobby, IV chairs in the emergency department, donations to the living space in long term care, and furniture to make the palliative rooms more comfortable.  The support from the community is invaluable, and truly is a testament to the dedication that rural communities demonstrate in caring for their neighbors!
